Open Path Infrared Technology with Dual Detection Ranges
The General Monitors® IR5500 Open Path Infrared Gas Detector combines proven infrared sensing technology with dual detection ranges to continuously monitor flammable hydrocarbon gas leaks across large industrial areas. Designed for reliable long-range operation, the IR5500 helps detect both small and large gas leaks while delivering dependable performance in demanding environments.
Unlike conventional single-range open path detectors, the IR5500 simultaneously monitors gas concentrations in both ppm·m and LEL·m ranges. This enables earlier detection of small gas leaks while maintaining reliable monitoring of larger gas releases. Automatic gain control continuously compensates for environmental conditions such as rain, fog, and dirty optics, helping maintain stable performance over time.
