Location: Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia – May 27, 2025 – Sherbiny, through its manufacturing division Atheel Advanced Manufacturing Company, has officially launched the local assembly and manufacturing of the General Monitors® S5000 Gas Detector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This strategic initiative directly supports Saudi Aramco’s 9COM approval, the In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) program, and aligns with the goals of Vision 2030.
The launch event, held at Atheel’s certified facility in Al-Khobar, gathered leadership from Saudi Aramco, MSA Safety, and regional industry partners to celebrate a major advancement in the Kingdom’s industrial localization capabilities and safety technology infrastructure.
Localized Safety Innovation for a Safer Future
The S5000 detector, now produced locally under Aramco Vendor Code 10107920 and Plant ID 30014847, is globally recognized for its reliability in combustible gas and H₂S monitoring applications. It incorporates MSA’s patented TruCal® and Adaptive Environmental Compensation (AEC) technologies, offering extended calibration cycles (up to 24 months), real-time drift correction, and industry-first Diffusion Supervision to detect sensor blockages.
By assembling and supporting this technology in Saudi Arabia, Atheel ensures:
-
Faster regional delivery and reduced logistics
-
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certified processes
-
Full-service support, maintenance, and spare parts
-
Drop-in compatibility with legacy S4000 installations
Statements from Sherbiny and MSA Leadership
“This is more than a milestone—it’s a contribution to the Kingdom,” said Majed Sherbiny, CEO of Sherbiny. “We’re proud to manufacture safety-critical systems here in Saudi Arabia, embedding our family values into every process, and aligning with Vision 2030 and Aramco’s IKTVA initiative.”
Dave Howells, President of MSA International, added:
“Today isn’t just about equipment. It’s about progress, partnerships, and purpose. Our alliance with Sherbiny empowers us to deliver innovative gas detection solutions with speed, reliability, and local relevance. Together, we’re helping build a safer, smarter future for Saudi Arabia.”
Deep Roots, Broader Vision
Sherbiny’s journey began in 1986 with the vision to fill market gaps through value-driven partnerships. From distributing specialized equipment to leading Saudi Arabia’s industrial localization agenda, Sherbiny now operates state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing hubs across the Kingdom and internationally.
With a 55+ million SAR investment in a 12,000 sqm next-generation facility in Dammam Second Industrial City, Sherbiny is consolidating its manufacturing, R&D, and logistics under one roof—setting a new standard for smart industrial complexes in the region.
Accelerating Local Talent and Value Creation
The S5000 launch is part of a broader ecosystem of localization. Atheel and its sister divisions, Rasana and Atras, are expanding the local design and fabrication of:
-
Steam & water analysis systems (SWAS)
-
API 610/682 compliant pumps
-
Fire and gas panels, including FACP and 02 systems
-
Skid-mounted industrial modules
As of 2025, over 51% localization has been achieved for integrated safety systems, with a target of 70% by 2027. The initiative has already generated 13 direct and 20 indirect jobs, advancing national industrial capabilities.
A Saudi-Made Detector, A Global Standard
The S5000 gas detector is the latest in Sherbiny and MSA’s long-standing partnership—one that delivers global safety excellence through localized manufacturing, strong technical collaboration, and a shared commitment to protect lives and infrastructure in critical sectors.
Sherbiny remains a trusted partner of Saudi Aramco and continues to contribute to building a more resilient, self-reliant, and high-performance industrial base in the Kingdom.
